On the professional poker circuit there are plenty of full time players. The professional poker player must network with other players, meet with publicists and media people, work with charities and business based sponsors and communicate with their many fans. The poker player’s business card should balance professionalism and personality.

Including images and clipart on a card player’s business card is a must. With playing cards, roulette tables, dice and casinos iconic images of the card playing world it makes sense to reflect that on the business card of the player. Choose an image that shows your particular card playing focus and avoid the image of pocket aces if possible. This is a little cheesy.

For the professional player looking to work on their PR campaign, a portrait photograph is the way to go on their business card. This works especially well for the up and coming player that may have won plenty of money but is still not well known to the media. Choose an image that shows both personality as well as approachability.

Be sure to list major wins on the professional card player’s business card. Use the reverse side to write the dates and titles previously earned. A bulleted list always helps organize information on a business card. If there are no wins as yet or only one, it may be best to leave this information off until the player is better established.

The professional card player always has a creative nickname and this must be included on the player’s business card. For many, it’s how they are known on the card playing circuit and its nice for press people to know the exact spelling and language preferred by the player. This is about personal branding and the information looks good in the tagline format.

After redesigning your business card for the New Year be sure not to let it sit in the draw or filing cabinet. The point of business cards is to self promote, advertise your business and get your name out there. The holidays are a great opportunity for professionals and companies large and small to really affirm their branding.

Big corporations make it a habit to send out corporate holiday cards to all of their clients. There is no reason for smaller businesses and entrepreneurs not to do the same. The cost of bulk custom printed holidays cards had reduced drastically in recent years and is an easy way to advertise your business. Be sure to place one of your business cards inside every single card.

Holidays cards are a great way of saying thank you to clients for the previous year’s business and a way to hand out the new business card to established clientele. Broaden your range by sending out cards to potential clients as well as area business networks.

The tourism board, the chamber of commerce, business groups, civic organizations and even the local city hall are all perfect places for your new business card. Send between three and five cards inside the greeting card to ensure your name reaches someone. A secretary will be more hesitant to throw out a number of cards instead of just one (and some rejection is a given).

If you are worried that all your business cards will be in the trash can as soon as the holiday card is opened, consider delivering your greetings in person. Introduce yourself and drop off your holiday wishes with a few cards to explain the services you offer.

Don’t restrict yourself to business cards inside holiday cards. Attach business cards to cookie baskets and popcorn tins for distribution to local businesses. And don’t forget, the new year is just around the corner and makes a great opportunity to send out your business cards again.

Do you work at a car dealership? Do you own your own used car company? Are you looking for the slightest edge over your competition? I have been to a lot of car dealerships recently and have noticed that they all still employ the traditional business card when it comes to marketing their product. So what does this mean for you?

Our alternative business card idea for today is just for car dealers or anyone that works at or owns a car dealership. Print your company information on fake car keys and hand out those keys to current and prospective clients. That’s right…I have been to at least five different car dealerships in the past three weeks and have yet to see one using this type of alternative business card approach.

A lot of different businesses are using nontraditional business cards these days and why shouldn’t you do the same? Veterinarians are using dog tags, media personnel are using demo CDs, private investigators are handing out business cards with finger prints on them and dentists are handing out business cards that are the mold of a set of teeth. What is wrong with you handing out a fake key to a car?

It is simple to do, just order thousands of metal keys that have access to nowhere in particular and print your company’s information on the keys. Information such as the street address, email addresses, phone numbers and hours of operation should go on the keys. Hand them out at local events and to anyone that walks through your doors.

Are you a veterinarian? If so, we have the idea for you. Veterinarians care for the pets of the world including cats, dogs, birds, hamsters, ferrets and much more. Even though veterinarians care for more than just dogs and cats, our idea is more suited for dogs and cats. If veterinarians are looking for a creative way to market their business with special business cards then this idea might be for you.

Veterinarians should use dog tags or cat tags to market their veterinarian practice. By dog or cat tags we mean the tags that animals have to wear to identify them and where they reside within a township. These tags can be made quite easily by a manufacturing company for a business.

On the tag put the name of the Veterinarian practice, the name of the doctors, the phone number of the practice, the email address, the hours of operation and the street address.

You can have the tags produced in the shape of a bone for a dog or in the shape of a mouse for a cat and so forth. You will be sure to get quite a few phone calls regarding your animal services from prospective clients by using this nontraditional business card method. Why? People will remember you because of your awesome idea.

Who has ever handed out dog tags as their business cards? I have never seen it to be honest with you. Give it a try. On the tag you could also put a logo of your business or a picture of a group of animals.

Following our theme for the week, creative business card ideas, we have plucked an obscure idea out of the sky for today’s post. We have been preaching about thinking out of the box when designing and producing your business cards and this idea fits the mold of thinking out of the box. Today’s idea can be used by graphic designers, artists, writers, radio announcers, television hosts and bands alike. This idea is more common for the latter three but all on that list can employ the use of a CD showcasing your best work as a business card.

In the media world this CD is referred to as a demo tape, even though it is no longer a tape, and contains air checks of radio show hosts, demo songs for bands, and video clips of television reporters. Anyone that produces their work can use this method though.

Take a CD and create a label to put on it that includes your name, job title, phone number, email address, and street location of the business. Then, put together a tiny sample of your best work into a demo, save it in one file, and burn that file to the CD.

The file can be an MP3, a WAV, a Microsoft Word Document, a PowerPoint presentation, Clip Art, Photoshop and much more. As long as the media on the CD is readable and playable, you now have one of the most effective nontraditional business cards around. More than likely no one will throw away this business card because they will be intrigued to find out what your band sounds like, what your radio voice sounds like, what your graphic designs look like, how your writing reads or how you handle yourself on television. Give it a shot; it’s worth the try.

No two business cards are alike and yours shouldn’t be the same as any other card either. Why? For one that is considered plagiarism or copyright infringement but the real reason is to be original and different from everyone else. In this struggling economy it is important to be able to have your business stand out from all the rest. One way to accomplish this is by being creative when designing your business card.

One creative way to design a business card is to design it pertinent to your business’ services. For instance, if you are a dentist, place an indent of teeth onto each business card. Now I am not saying to chomp down on each individual business card with your teeth but have the company that is producing your cards place the teeth on your cards electronically.

In today’s day and age, with the advent of technology, it is fairly simple to place bite marks onto a business card without actually biting the card itself. Business card production companies can make the bite marks appear very realistic.

All that you need on your business card is the name of your business, your name, your phone number, your email address, your street address, your business’ logo and then the teeth marks. The teeth marks should be done on a white business card so that they appear to be in the background of the writing on the card.

With a white background you can use almost any color for the typing on your business card. If you try any other color besides white for the card, you will have to change the color of the teeth imprints as well. White teeth on a black business card would also be very original and would stand out to everyone else.

Business cards are an incredibly helpful marketing tool for businesses and individuals alike. Business cards are used by CEOs all the way down the employment ladder to entry level employees. A business card tells people your name, your job title, your phone number, your email address and what company you work for.

Not everyone needs a business card but anyone looking for a job or looking to obtain more and more clients should employ the use of business cards. Even if you are a recent college graduate that has yet to find a job, have a business card created for you. Why? Even though you don’t have a company name or job title to place on the card it is still something that you can bring with you on a job interview besides your cover letter and resume.

Having a business card even though you are without a job shows employers that you are dedicated and geared towards obtaining a job anyway possible. It might seem awkward at first to hand out a business card even though you don’t own a company or don’t work for a company but stick with the marketing idea. It is a great way to market yourself in the workforce.

No one will look at you in a weird way but will look at you and say “this person is really putting him or herself out there by making their own business card.”

So you don’t have a job or job title to place on the card; what should go on there?

Put your name, phone number, email address, and your personal website (if you have one with your resume posted) on the card. By producing a personal business card for your job search, you are telling employers that you will go above and beyond the required resume to obtain a job.

In the spirit of winter, no two snowflakes are alike; no two business cards are alike. Well, I don’t know how true the latter part of that statement is but no two business cards should be alike, especially if companies copyright the design they use on their cards.

Take a look at all of the business cards you have been handed over the years and compare them all. Not one of them has the exact same design as another. Now, the cards might have the same layout as each other; the name and contact information is placed in the same spot on the card as the other card. But there are thousands of designs to choose from these days that no two cards should look alike.

Businesses will use their own logo or their own company’s colors on the business cards that they hand out to prospective clients or they will hire a marketing company or business card production company to design and produce their cards. This way the company can tell the designer exactly what they are looking for and how they want the color scheme to appear on the card.

Or, if the company is a very small one, they could decide to use a design that has already been created by a business card production company and use that for their cards. The only thing they would need to do is supply the company information to be printed on the card.

So, next time you are handed a business card, take note of the card’s design and layout. You more than likely won’t see the design on any other card, unless you get lucky. It’s hard to find two similar business cards just like no two snowflakes are alike.

Everyone has a hobby these days; collecting baseball cards, collecting movies, collecting coins, collecting stamps and collecting athletes’ autographs. Some people even collect business cards. That’s right, not everyone throws out the business card that they are handed by an accountant or a CEO of a company.

Business cards are produced and distributed by companies for the sole purpose of marketing the business and getting the company’s information to prospective clients. Business cards contain pertinent information such as the person’s name, their title, the company’s name, a phone number, a street address and an email. Not all business cards are thrown out though.

There are people out there that love to collect as many business cards as possible. They will pick up a business card wherever they go, even if they do not intend to contact that company in the future. Everyone has a hobby and collecting business cards has become a popular hobby among collectors today.

Why? Collecting business cards does not cost a thing for the hobby hunter and they don’t take up much space at all. Just find a box and throw the business cards into the box and you have a place to store them. This hobby literally has no cost to it at all. Whenever you are handed a business card, take it with a smile and toss it into the box. So, if you are looking for a hobby that doesn’t cost a single cent to add to your daily activities, then collecting business cards is the best way to go.
