When to Update Your Business Card

Many people in the world today have their own business cards, whether they are supplied to them by their place of employment or they print them on their own. Many of those people also wonder when the best time is to update those business cards and improve them. The answer is quite simple; whenever you change jobs, obtain a new title, or feel the time is necessary to make some changes.

If you have been with a company for quite some time they will more than likely foot the bill to have business cards printed for their employees. Usually an employee will use their expense account to design and print their business cards. Say you have been promoted and your job title changes. You should update your business card as soon as possible so it reflects your job title.

Another reason to update your business card is if you decide to change jobs. People in the workforce today continually send out their resume to find new jobs and better paying jobs even though they have a job already. Well, if you acquire a new job you should definitely have your business cards updated to reflect your new place of employment and your new job title.

When you change jobs you will get a new phone number, a new address for the place of business, and a new company email address. Don’t continue to hand out old business cards. That is not proper business card etiquette.

The third reason to update your business card is if you feel like doing so you should. Maybe you are sick of the color scheme or the design altogether. So why not change it? Change never hurt anyone. In fact, it might actually help a bit.
