The Paranormal Gig: Business Cards for Ghost Hunters
It’s a growing field of research and a great fun hobby. Paranormal investigation or ghost hunting has soared to new heights recently with organization and clubs spring up across the nation, a combination of curiosity and television networks. Ghost hunters need to advertise their services and look professional if they ever hope to get into commercial buildings to search out spooks. The ghost hunter business card is open to a number of designs all based on what sort of impression the specter spies want to make.
Ghost hunters hand out cards to friends, family and potential clients. They provide basic contact information for investigators and may include the region covered by the group, the types of investigation (commercial or residential), a hotline number and their online addresses (social networking and main website or blog). Some groups have a custom logo that also appears on the cards.
The look of the card is a very personal matter for the group and says a lot about the image they wish to portray. Paranormal investigation can be taken seriously by a group or be more a matter of a fun hobby. Business cards should reflect this either way. A serious group may avoid the ghost images on their card and opt for a logo or simply a well spaced typed message. Someone just ghost hunting for fun may indulge the urge to put ghost related clip art on their card and choose a fun font such as Comic sans.
In most cases, ghost hunters wish to be taken seriously and can be traditional or modern in designing their business card. Traditional looks for ghost hunting business cards are black background with white or colored lettering, Copperplate or Bookman fonts and a serious lack of silliness. A more modern take would steer away from the black and white look and open up the color palette a little more, use geometric designs or futuristic lettering.
Other options including foiling, raised print, embossed logo or watermarked logo as well as a full background image (covers the whole card). Images of trees, cemeteries and old bridges and buildings are very popular and ensure the card reinforces the printed information.
A ghost hunter business card should adhere to normal size and material restrictions but can be a little bit more visually interesting. Like any business card, the paranormal services card is free advertising and in many cases, a great conversation starter.
