Planet Warrior’s Unite: Ecologist’s Business Card
Being green is quite the thing lately and eco friendly jobs are popping up all over the planet. The professional ecologist may work with local government to protect wetlands around industrial parks or consult with the parks service regarding the longevity of wolf packs in a certain area. Ecologists specialize after college in a certain field and their business card must be specific, focused and professional.
Besides the usual contact information, the ecologist’s business card should include some description of the scope of work or details of the individual’s skill set. For many a layperson, ecology is an overly broad subject which they have little personal experience with. Take the time to explain your specialty using a bulleted list. Keep the sentences short and the language simple to convey the impression of professionalism and approachability.
Avoid over simplification with the clipart on the ecologist’s business card. If you specialize in the protection of barn owl habitats, an image of a dolphin or a flower on your business card would be beyond misleading. Be specific in your image choices and your background style choices. If people find your bulleted list still confusing the image you choose on your business card may help put things together.
When it comes to color schemes on the ecologist’s business card, there are a few obvious choices. If you must go with green, choose a second color to contrast or compliment. Use established branding palettes but stick to three colors or less. Green and brown works well together as does blue and brown for ecology themed business cards.
Distribute the ecologist’s business card to everyone you meet on the job whether potential client, colleague or employer. Include a business card with all correspondence including professional reports and introduction letters. Pass out your business card at professional conferences, networking events and every time there is an opportunity to educate people on the planet.
