Pipes and Wrenches: the Plumbers Business Card
Some services will never have to suffer from economic downturns. Pipes will always burst and toilets will always back up. The job of a plumber is never ending but getting picked over the competition is a matter of self promotion and well styled business cards.
The plumber’s business card must exude efficiency, expertise and professionalism. Careful color choices and focused wording is important to making the card your personal piece of advertising. A plumber’s job is to make clients and potential clients realize how dependable and reliable they are.
When it comes to color, the obvious choices are blue and white, perhaps even gray to remind people of pipes, water and sanitation. This is one way to go but mixing things up a little bright greens and yellows could make your card stand out from the crowd. Think fresh and clean as well as functional. Avoid browns and reds on a plumber’s business card.
Font types should be clear and concise, showing customers that you offer a no nonsense no frills approach to your business. Often people baulk at the expense of hiring a plumber so emphasizing an economical approach is best. Choose simple direct fonts like Time New Roman and Arial.
For images and clip art, pictures of water pipes, wrenches and water work well. Consider home or office images to show any particular specialization. A photograph of yourself or the front of your office or store is another option. Personal images help emphasize personable and friendly natures as well as local recognizable businesses.
The back side of a plumber’s business card is the perfect space to explain service fees, call out fees, flat fees and any specialties you may offer. Being up front with pricing is always appreciated by customers. Consider magnetic business cards to hand out on house calls to encourage repeat business.
