The retro look is back. Whether its Victorian corsets or mid century dresses, vintage clothing continues to grow in favor as a sophisticated alternative to shopping mall mass produced items. Vintage clothing stores exist online and offline, in the small town and the large city and offer a wide array of clothing, shoes and vintage accessories. The vintage clothing store needs a business card that answers clearly to the needs of its customers while complimenting the existing branding of the business.

The vintage clothing store business card should be explicit in detailing the era and type of clothing for sale. If your specialty is Victorian hats it should say so on your card. If Edwardian dresses or 1940s outerwear are your thing be sure to state this on your business card. Many vintage stores make the mistake of simply writing “vintage” on their business cards which for collectors and customers can cause confusion and disappointment.

Reflect the company’s branding on your vintage clothing store business card. Choose color schemes that echo the tones of your letterhead, store front and any company uniforms. If there is no established business branding think about color schemes that best show off your stock and the era your collection represents.  If you cover a large time period, it may be best to highlight some stock and keep background colors neutral.

Metallic foiling may be appropriate for your vintage clothing store business card. A little glam can work well with clothes dating from the 1970s. Alternately consider black and white checkerboard patterns for the 1960s, aqua and silver for the 1950s. The further you go back in time with your stock, the more muted your colors and pattern choices should be.

When it comes to clip art for the vintage clothing store’s business card, both graphic images and photographs can work in your favor. If you mostly deal in high end Victorian gowns, an actual photograph of your stock may sell your line a lot better than a graphic image. If you specialize in low to mid range 1970s clothing, a graphic image of a hippie chick may be more appropriate.

Distribute your vintage clothing store business cards to regular customers that come into your store and with every package of merchandize you send out of your store.
