Making it Work: Craft Vendor’s Business Card
The professional crafter spends their time during the week creating handmade items, gathering tools and raw materials for their product and advertising their wares. Every weekend is spent working the craft fair circuit. The craft vendor’s business card should be explicit, creative and professional.
It is important to provide as much contact information as possible on the craft vendor’s business card. As you travel around and may not have a home store, phone numbers and e-mail addresses should be proofread very carefully. Try and have one or two numbers and e-mail addresses on the card as well as a website or url to an online catalog or order form.
Be sure to include images of your product on the craft vendor’s business card. Try to show your entire range of products. Avoid only including seasonal items and giving the impression of a limited range. Consider using the back of the business card to list the basic products on offer or to include a number of different pictures.
Choose colors that compliment your products on the craft vendor’s business card. If you create very colorful items a single tone neutral background color makes the most sense. Consider adding a little metallic oiling to the name of your business or on the frame of images to add a little aesthetic detail to your business card.
Be sure to hand out the crafter’s business card at every festival, craft fair and networking opportunity. The competition for handmade goods and crafts is very high and visibility is key. Present every customer and potential customer with a business card and be sure to place one in every bag with the purchase to increase repeat business.
