K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple Stupid)
We aren’t trying to be mean and we aren’t trying to downplay anyone’s smarts but keeping it simple, stupid, might be the best way to design a business card for yourself or for your business. Some major corporations will have one of their in house employees design their business cards and then again some corporations will have outside business card companies design the cards for them. However the design duties are handled sometimes the best way to go is to keep it simple.
Keeping it simple when designing a business card can actually draw the attention of prospective clients or employers more so than presenting them with an extravagant business card. Everyone wants to be unique when it comes to designing their business card and they want to come up with the freshest idea but sometimes going the way of simplicity is the best way to do it. There is absolutely nothing wrong with keeping it simple when designing a business card.
Don’t get me wrong. Having a unique, creative idea for your business card is always interesting and fun to play with. But keeping it simple can sometimes get a person more hits off of the card. Below are a couple of different examples regarding simple business cards that tell the entire story that needs to be told of the business card holder.
This card has all of the pertinent information on it but it does not overwhelm the person that is reading it. The colors of the print are easy to read and the reader isn’t bowled over by crazy amounts of graphics either. The card below is designed the same way (it is simple and doesn’t overwhelm the reader) except for the location of the colors and the information.
