312217624_ad7e71f2ac_mThe building inspector’s role is to ensure a building, both residential and commercial meets with the safety and building codes of the town or city. They must remain professional and cool in the face of constant opposition and upset. People don’t like being informed their building isn’t up to code. A business card that projects a combination of friendly and confident experience is a must for the professional building inspector.

Choose a background color that reflects buildings for the building inspector’s business card. Gray is of course an obvious choice as is brick red or a cool plaster. Textured card such as a linen finish, a stone effect or a marbleized finish can work well. If your department is part of a larger company or municipality, be sure to include their background scheme or color palette in your business card.

Be sure to include any established clip art or logo on the building inspector’s business card. If you hold any local, state or national accreditation connected with your role as a building inspector be sure to include their logos on the bottom of the card. Seek permission in order to use these logos or to get the digital file sent to you for upload. If there is no particular images that should appear on your card feel free to include an image related to the field such as a building permit, clipboard and pen or any other tool of the trade.

Distribute the building inspector’s business card to building owners, contractors, fellow inspectors, utility installers and with all the permits that you issue. Always carry a few business cards with you and use them for both professional and personal contact information.
