Considering the Green Collar Business Card
The green collar sector is the latest niche in the vocation market. Green collar business cards should be both planet friendly and client friendly. There are a few basic concepts to consider when designing your green business card.
Choose recycled card or cards made from post consumer waste. Recycled business cards offer the lowest carbon footprint and show clients and colleagues you are serious about your vocation. A number of choices are available on today’s printing market and a card can be textured or smooth depending on the type of recycled card you choose.
Soy inks are the way to go for the green business card. In most cases, the price is comparable to traditional oil based inks and has the added bonuses of being non toxic, chemical free and can go in a compost heap or recycling bin without a problem. Printing the fact that the card is made with soy inks on the back of the card is a good way to promote a greener corporate lifestyle.
A tag line that’s offers a little green humor “Reuse this card by giving me a call” is always appreciated and can help soften the serious image many in the green sector seem to get by no fault of their own. A tag line or a clear indication of what the green collar worker does is important. For many people, the sector is still new and vague so clearly communicating your services is vital.
Despite the indications, a green collar business card does not have to be green; in fact, that may come across as a little cliché. Consider using company logo colors, colors associated with the service or even something more traditional like black and white for that classic look. The same rules apply: 3 colors total, easy to read, clear communication and memorable.
The green sector continues to grow and a number of green printers are available for the production of sustainable, compostable and recyclable business cards. The green job card is an opportunity to both promote the individual services of the company as well as the concept of sustainable low impact living.
