Business Card Do’s and Don’ts
Business cards are an important part of a business person’s briefcase and their business equipment as well. Business cards help businesses acquire more clients and they help people find new jobs too. Below are the top do’s and don’ts of business cards.
- Don’t be cheap…even though there are great deals out there on business cards you should never find the cheapest way to have your business cards designed and printed. Make sure you pay extra for heavy card stock so the cards are not flimsy.
- Keep the design of the card simple…never use a variety of different colors and fonts. It will only call attention to the wrong things on the card and will turn people off almost right away.
- Make sure you use a font that is easy to read…do not print your business card information in fonts that are difficult to read such as script or calligraphy.
- Print the most important information in larger fonts…if you want the people reading your business cards to visit your website you should highlight the web address with a larger font.
- Print the web address and the email address on the business card…if you have a company web address it should always be printed on the card along with the company email address.
- Do not use cards with outdated information…never hand out your business card if it has outdated information such as an old web address, an old phone number, or an old email address on it.
- Write and offer on the reverse side of the card…the offer can be 10 percent off the services your company offers, a free consultation, or a free estimate. Hand the card over to the person with the backside facing them so they see the offer.
