Banker Business Cards: All About Image
Despite the economic woes faced by millions of Americans, there are still banks and still bankers. In today’s climate, a banker must set the right tone between professional and reliable in both their personal dealings and their business cards. A friendly yet trustworthy image is the key to the successful design of a banker’s business card.
Setting the tone with a banker’s business card is a must. The card must appear approachable yet authoritative so spend time creating just the right image. Avoid cheesy clipart and flashy design extras. Stick to the three color rule and consider the client’s perception throughout the design process.
A portrait picture is better than cartoon style clip art and even a photograph of the bank’s exterior. Clip art may be a little too relaxed and friendly for the banking world and a photograph of the bank may be intimidating to some. A banker must remember to keep every aspect of the business card appealing. Be sure to smile big in your portrait.
When it comes to colors the obvious choices are green, cream and black. These convey the images of money, paperwork and legible print. There is nothing wrong with using these colors in our design but a modern fresh approach may include blues and yellows. There is also nothing wrong with good old fashioned black print on a white background, as long as the font is right.
The text style is an important aspect of the banker’s business card and sends small subliminal messages to the potential customer. Avoid overly decorative and overly bubbly fonts. Times New Roman and Arial may be a bit too traditional. Opt for Garamond or Batang for a good balance of serious and fresh. Try experimenting with several fonts before finalizing your design.
A matte finish and a thick card stock with engraved printing is the classic way to go. Consider a more economical looking business card to tell your clients that you are careful with your money. This helps them think you will be careful with their money.
When it comes to designing the modern banker’s business card its all about taking the classic elements that work and mixing them with a fresh friendly finish.
